I lost my father when I was 10. The circumstances surrounding my father’s loss were devastating, and still to this day, not something I fully understand. I was raised by a single mother. The hardships we endured as a family and what my mother endured to raise my four younger siblings and me brought a lot of anger and hardness towards our God. Life brought other circumstances that further contributed to that anger and hardness toward God.
Our Savior relieved me of all these burdens when He graced me with His salvation when I was 31. There were a lot of significant changes that occurred following my salvation, one of which was I developed a desire to compose and share Christian songs. The first song I composed is titled “I’ll Trust and Follow You.” There is a free link to the song under the"Current Releases" Tab, as well as the background that led to the song's composition.
I enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17. After serving 7 ½ years, I departed the Army to pursue my college degree and seek a commission through Army ROTC, and joined the Tennessee Army National Guard. One day, while serenading customers at a local music store, a contact person invited me to perform at the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. This exposure led to invitations to appear on Nashville TV and local Radio. I turned down opportunities to tour regionally and decided to complete my degree and return to military service, where I spent an additional 21 years before retiring.
I was not part of a military musical organization. I was a combat arms soldier, serving alongside my comrades and sharing songs when given the opportunity. My passion was to serve our country as a soldier---my calling was to share compositions I believe our Lord led me to compose with our soldiers and their families, especially while serving abroad, separated from our loved ones. It is a privilege and an honor to share some of these songs with you, as my journey with our Lord continues.
Since our relocation to the Huntsville, Alabama, area I have had the privilege of conducting more than 80 performances, primarily at our local senior adult living centers and other local church events. I have also had the honor to appear on the Alabama Gospel Roots TV program four times.
I currently live in the local area with my wonderful wife of 47 years.
